Converse
Converse was created in 1877 when it was purchased as land and a townsite by the chief engineer of the Southern Pacific Railroad, Major Converse. By 1885 a population of 30 was reported. In 1990 the community reportedly had the oldest 4-H club in Texas. Today Converse is known for being a military town due to it being nestled between both Fort Sam Houston and Randolph Air Force Base.
